Be Playful

12 DAYS OF CREATIVITY
DAY 5

This Grinch is a tricky one.

Imposter Syndrome.

The basis of creativity is doing something new.

You don’t have to be an expert to be creative.

The nature of creativity involves trials, explorations, new directions.

Yet somehow we think WE have to be a certain way before diving into the fun of exploring our impulses and making something new.

Today, let’s embrace contrast.

Intentionally put two things that don’t belong together and see what happens.

Maybe this is your music playlist, what you write about in your journal, or two items of clothing.

BE PLAYFUL.

There is beauty in mashups.

This exercise is not about the result it is about the willingness to let go of that feeling that you have to be further along on some path in order to exercise your creativity.

It’s the process that counts.

Does it matter that your Imposter Syndrome isn’t cured?

No, these feelings will always come and go.

The goal is to get yourself into motion.

The more fun you have trying something new and even odd, the more likely you’ll come back to this place of curiosity and exploration.

It is the expansion that counts.
