Great Stories: French Public Radio

This week I wanted to share with you FIP, French public radio.

Most people don’t think of music when they think of storytelling. But music has its own stories to tell. Even without lyrics, music can set a mood and bring one to a different space in our minds.

When I find it difficult to concentrate or when I read some news and feel low of a new turn of events, I turn to FIP for a bit of energy and inspiration.

Unlike Spotify or Apple Music, FIP is free and commercial-free. At any given time you can tune in and hear jazz, rock, groove, reggae, electronic or world music. Each channel is curated and includes an eclectic mix of songs. I love the newness of what I hear.

FIP also creates special programming which are recorded and available for replay on their website. One I’m curious to listen to that was broadcast January 26, 2020 is “The musics of Jean-Luc Godard.” For film buffs, they also have a program “The musics of David Cronenberg.”

France has maintained this lovely public space on the airwaves and has made it available for the world through its online platform. I love finding spaces that are commercial-free.
